Looks like it's been a while since any update here. So thought i'd write a few words on what's been going on.
Since launching the new EP, things have been looking up for us with more invites to play for shows and that certainly kept us busy. Alongside that, we've been featured on various medias as well and it has been a great experience and exposure for all of us.
For those interested, you can read about us in the music section of September's issue of Timeout Kuala Lumpur magazine. Also there was an airing of our interview on fly fm's campur chart with Basil. And i was told Junk magazine covered our EP launch together with Lightcraft in Malaysia in this month's issue as well so do look out for that. NST also had an article written about us in yesterday's paper. You can read it here.
Things are slowing down at the moment since it's the fasting month which means a short break for us. Nevertheless, we're still working on new materials.
A big thanks to all those who came and supported us at the various gigs and who bought our EP. It means a lot to us.
And to all our Muslim friends, Selamat Berpuasa.

2nd August 2008: When We Escape From The Moonlight
Hi,
Its goddamn long since we've made any update here. Well, thats because we were really busy finishing up the album. I've been spending a lot of midnights recording in Awakening with Tomas. When i was not recording, i stayed at home finishing our album cover design, bunting design, flyer design, ticket design, merchandise design, writing credits, and a whole lotta stuff.
Im sure glad that its almost there! I've only got few more tasks to do which is, claiming copyright for our songs from MACP, send the album cover and bunting designs to printers, burning album to cd's (yea, we're not doing cd pressing), practice practice and practice.
Anyway, since the album is going to be release soon, i'll write a short review about the album :)
Alright, the album is called "When We Escape From The Moonlight". This title is taken from one of our song which will also be on the album. The meaning behind this title is, im not too sure myself. Ahah, but i can say that song is pretty much inspired by two movies, "30 Days Of Night" and "I Am Legend". The irony is, while both movies are pretty gory, the song is pretty mellow. Basically the feel this two movies gave me was pretty much the same, but both meaningful. Both movies portrayed a sense of fear and loneliness and the will to survive darkness and escape from it. As a conclusion, i think the meaning behind the title is, escaping from darkness, hence, "when we escape from the moonlight". Why use that as the album title? ..........
cos i think it sounded nice :)
Moving on, the album have five lengthy tracks and one outro. Track list goes like this:-
1// From Here To Eternity
2// Counting Thirty Three
3// Tale Of A Wooden Door
4// Closing Chapter Of A Sappy Story
5// When We Escape From The Moonlight
6//* Sleepless
From Here To Eternity
This is probably the whole band' favorite song. No vocals, no weird effects, just simple melody with heavy attack at the start, smooth melody driving middle and intense constant attack ending. Well, i dont think this is post rock. Post rock are way draggy and experimental than this song, This is just a simple, honest, melody driving instrumental song. A good intro song for a movie in my opinion.
Counting Thirty Three
Here goes a song i wrote about thirty three days of my life. To be exact 26th April Till 28th May 2007. Wont go in detail about that thirty three days. This song is probably the darkest sounding song in the whole album. With low moody vocals and simple chords, intense punch from the middle towards the end of the song and a sudden end. Yes, wrote during one of the darkest days of my life.
Tale Of A Wooden Door
The song that made Silent Scenery kinda happened and keep Silent Scenery moving. The funny thing about this song is, its a total accidental post rock sounding track. Mind you i wrote this song before i even know what the hell is post rock and who the hell is Mogwai. I was still a solo acoustic musician when i wrote this. My concept for this song is "alright dude, im bored of singing with an acoustic guitar, strumming basic Em G D chords, when the hell will i ever use my Squier Telecaster man?" Ahah, i just wanted to write a four chords simple song with simple running leads and most important thing is, i dont wanna sing. Yes, Tale Of A Wooden Door is my first attempt on instrumental song. When convert Silent Scenery to a full band, it eventually sounded very the post rock, it gets exposure in Bangkok through a post rock label, Finalkid Group (our present label in Thailand), i dont know how, but thats how it happened. Last but not least i would like to express my hate to this song, i hate this song so much, because its the simplest song and its the hardest to record, i almost died recording this shit.
Closing Chapter Of A Sappy Story
Previously named as "At The End Of A Sappy Movie". Original idea of this song is, a movie soundtrack. Dont ask me why, i just feel the song can fit easily on any melancholic movies. Its a mellow vocals track, with vocals harmony, strings, steady up and down build up, i think this is the only song that will kinda make i to the radio, if we ever feel like sending to any. But the track it exceeded 5mins. A song about memories and regrets.
When We Escape From The Moonlight
Longest song on the album, draggy melodic intro, strings filled mid, balanced up and down build ups. One thing weird about this song is, the singing only starts when the song is about to end. Ahaha. Yeah, anti climax. As i mentioned before this, this is about surviving darkness and escaping from it.
Sleepless
An outro song i wrote spontaneously in 10mins. Nothing much to mention about this song, maybe i can describe it as a song that you listen to put yourself to sleep? Irony again.
Last but not least, please come to our album launch with Lightcraft and buy, i mean, buy, please buy pre sale tickets, because Central Market Annexe demanded us to limit audience to 150 people only. If sampai sampai no tickets i really dont know what i should do for you. One more thing before i go, please buy the album and let it grow on you alright! See you guys soon!
Here's the flyer design and album cover design.

PS: Go to our Myspace and listen to the rough mix of "Closing Chapter Of A Sappy Story" everyday then come to the launch and sing along okay? Yes? Thank you. Ahaha!
Regards,
Kit

Silent Scenery & Lightcraft Album Launch
Yes. We will be launching our album togather with Lightcraft.
Date has been confirmed.
2nd Of August 2008
Obviously its goin to me a double launch and the venue is goin to be in the artsy Central Market Annexe Art Gallery where audience will be limited to 150 people only. And because there's audience limit, we might consider put out presale tickets. So keep checking our pages for updates alright.
I cant say much about the gig yet, since we're still in the mist of discussion with Lightcraft. But our base plan are to make it as homely and comfortable as possible. Sofas, carpets, pillows? Decent mellow lightings? Visual/Video projection? Soothing melodic melancholic music?
So far bands that has confirmed to open the show are:-
* Leaders On A Sunday (Opening The Show)
* Inspirative [Thailand] (Opening For Silent Scenery)
and one more band which will be opening for Lightcraft
Since Annexe prefer show to end at 12am. We're gonna make this gig very early. 7 pm. So please do come early people. I mean, cmon, why does every event in Malaysia have to be delayed at least 1 or 2 hours from the stated time?
Thats all for now. Keep in touch alright.
Regards,
Kit

Nokia IAC
Thanks to everyone who came to watch us perform on Saturday. We had a great time performing at both central market and zouk.
As most of you would probably know, the event was the last time Lipei would be playing for Silent Scenery. It's been a great one year playing and growing together as a band. We wish you the best in your future endeavour in Australia.
Big shout out to Yatz for the videos and pics of the Nokia IAC event. Here's the pics!
For those of you who missed out, here's a few videos of the show.
Regards,
Ivan

Have a good life, Lipei

As for today, Lipei has completed her job as bassist and backing vocalist for Silent Scenery. Her works will be included in three songs on our upcoming debut ep, "when we escape from the moonlight". Its really sad to see her leave the band, but well, this things happens i guess.
For your information, Lipei will be going to Australia for good. She will be leaving on Monday to Australia to get citizenship. This Saturday, will be her last time performing with Silent Scenery. Please do make some time for it. We will be playing in Central Market Annexe at 3pm and Zouk Main Room at 6pm.
I, on behalf of Silent Scenery, would like to thank her for all her hardwork in this band for one year and a month. Lipei, is considered the most talented Silent Scenery member. She sings well, plays the piano, guitar, and bass. I remember when she first join Silent Scenery, she was just started to learn to play the bass guitar and still she manage to come out with wonderful basslines. Her backing vocals is one of the biggest strenght of Silent Scenery. She's a big part of Silent Scenery's soul. All in all, i think her departure from Silent Scenery is a big lost but we hope and pray she'll have a good life in Australia :)
Lets wish her all the best in her future undertakings!
ps: Lipei, if i didnt say this enough. I'll say it again, you did a great job. Really. Thank you and thank you again.

Kit
